  • Direct sow or start indoors 4-6 weeks before your last frost. Once all risk of frost has passed, transplant outdoors. Space plants 3-4' apart, you can stake the plants to save space. The plants will first produce all male flowers and then start producing female flowers after a few days. If a female flower fails to be pollinated the fruits will wither, these should be removed to promote more fruit to grow. Pollination can be done by hand to encourage success.
