Open-pollinated.
This rhubarb comes from my Mennonite Grandmother Betty. It has been passed down among generations. It is a strong plant with delicious stalks, I grew up dipping it in sugar. Our germination on this batch of seed was 50% so I have doubled the seed amount to 50 seeds per pack.
Betty's Best Rhubarb Seed
To grow rhubarb from seed, soak seeds for a few hours, then sow indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost or direct sow in well-drained, compost-rich soil after frost, planting about ½ inch deep; keep moist, provide warmth for germination and transplant seedlings outside after hardening them off, spacing them widely (3-4 feet apart) as they need ample room to mature over two years before harvesting
